GUIDING PRINCIPLES

  • Everyone in the community has a role to play in preventing child abuse.
  • Prevention means child abuse never happens, which is only achievable if, as a community, we build proactive approaches of supporting families and promoting healthy, nurturing experiences for all children and youth.
  • We focus on the enhancement of protective factors proven to increase the health and well-being of children and families and to decrease the likelihood of child abuse is critical.
  • Community identification and intervention in events of child abuse, and the availability of supports and services to the family members in order to prevent future abuse, are vital elements in the elimination of abuse.
